Here is an older watercolor/Gouache study of the 1st Regiment of Engineers, Army of Northern Virginia 1864. They seem to have done good service but someone (maybe Walter Taylor, can't recall offhand) described them as incompetent imbeciles.They were equipped with imported English accoutrements.
