Here is a new study of a soldier of Patterson's Battalion Delaware Flying Camp 1776. Deserter descriptions mention Tow cloth trousers, white jackets (various types including floral) and blue cockades on the hats. Most likely to outfit themselves they had to buy whatever cloth was available from the local merchants. They were also issued knapsacks and haversacks. They are described as being badly clothed and short on blankets.
