Here is a new large painting from the Revolution. It is the battle of the Hook which took place near Gloucester , Pt , Virginia during the siege of Yorktown. Scroll down to the previous post to learn more about this.

A this point I'm roughing in the background and some of the principal figures. Each artist has their own way of doing things . I like to block in the entire canvas leaving uncovered area then bring up the details like a blurry image coming into focus. I usually can't resist taking some of the principal figures further just to see how they will look.
