Don Troiani Historical Artist Here is a small oil on board of one of the more unfortunate incidents of the 1777 Saratoga campaign, the murder of Jane McCrea by two Indians with the British Army. This was done for the forthcoming book on Saratoga with the great historian Eric Schnitzer . We researched all the known accounts and also found a few pension accounts that provided some new insights. It appears she may have put up a struggle as compared to earlier more romanticized versions.
