Another older one of a Private of the 18th Massachusetts Volunteers , 1862, wearing one of the Chasseur uniforms imported from France. Several other regiments had these including the 62nd and 83rd Pennsylvania Regiments. Proving less then popular most of these went into storage pretty quick, but some of the very good equipage, fatigue jackets and other bits and pieces was still in service as late as Gettysburg. Later in the war some of the dress uniforms were reissued to bands and U.S. Colored troops.
